Table Talk with Olivia Nottin, Founder of Matcha and Beyond


Meet Olivia Nottin – mother, nutritional therapist and founder of Matcha and Beyond. Bringing together her nutritional know-how and passion for matcha, Olivia wanted to shake up coffee culture in the capital and Match and Beyond was born. From super strength ceremonial shots to fabulously silky Flat Greens, ginger laced spiced matcha lattes to an array of jade hued puds, overnight oats and energy balls – the menu at Matcha and Beyond is not only one filled with vibrancy but also virtuous, a welcome break in a season filled with over indulgence. The cafe offers a welcoming and soothing interior of clean lines, earthy neutrals, with a splash of bright colour and is a welcoming spot for mothers and babies or the perfect pit-stop if you’re braving the shops solo in the lead up to Christmas.  

A year since Matcha and Beyond opened it’s doors on the King’s Road, we were lucky enough to grab five with Olivia to discover more about the gorgeous green benefits of matcha and where in London she turns to for a healthy bite with her brood….

5, for a long overdue catch up with my girlfriends.

2. Early-birds catch coffee (or of course, matcha!) at…
Matcha and Beyond of course, I am there every day.

3. Best brunch with kids?
The Oak in Notting Hill for delicious wood-fired pizzas.

4. Children’s menu must-visits…
I tend to avoid children’s menu because most of them are not well balanced. Instead,  I order from the regular menu and ask for a starter size. Kids love this as they feel they are treated like grown-ups.


5. Where do you grab a bite with mums en masse?
Daylesford Organic and it’s great to have the new one at Brompton Cross right on our doorstep.

6. Hidden gem for treating tiny ones?
A hidden gem in that families may not think of going here but being a French family we love going to Bibendum – moules frites are a favourite, they are so much more fun to eat than a filet of fish!

7. Best piece of advice for dining out with kids?
Choose a restaurant with quick service and engage in conversations on fun plans – e.g. what do you want to do on your birthday, list of friends to invite, where should we go on our next vacation…

8. Date night – takeaway or take me out?
Take me out! With a busy life, especially since opening Matcha and Beyond in October last year and 3 kids, my husband and I have a weekly date night (but sometimes we can only manage every other week). It is really important to reconnect, just the 2 of us and out of our home.

9. My earliest food memory…
Me and my grandmother making chocolate soufflé.

10. Five mums, one table – who’s joining you?
The Queen, Victoria Beckham, Amelia Freer, Mira Mikati and Helene Darroze – and hopefully she would cook for us.
