A stalwart on the London street food scene for nearly a decade, Baba G’s Bhangra Burger has opened it’s first permanent sit-down restaurant in the heart of Camden Market’s North Yard. What better way to turn up the heat on family dining this summer.
Parents and founders Alec Owen and Liz Selway won praise for their Indian-inspired brand Baba G’s on BBC’s Million Pound Menu earlier this year. After wowing judges Michelin starred chef Atul Kochhar and Jamie Barber, the man behind family-friendly Hache and Cabana restaurants, Alec and Liz settled into their dream location in Camden this May.
Their iconic Bhangra burgers tower high with spice-laden fillings and the freshest ingredients. Fom the Crazy Lamb Jalfrezi, their signature patty served with a cooling mint raita, sweet mango pulp and fresh chilli pickle to the Paneer Saag, a veggie savvy serving of spinach, methi and coriander saag sandwiched between two crispy paneer wedges. Through in Baba’s loaded fries and a serving of our favourite, tikka chicken Pachos – popadoms strewed with tender hunks of chicken, Indian salsa and a devilishly hot green chilli pickle. Okay, that’s ma and pa sorted, what about little G’s? Turning the spice level down a notch but still packing a flavour punch, kids can enjoy the Lil’ Plain G burger, a crispy paneer patty and tikka nuggets and fries, not too spicy but given a little kick for mini ones with adventurous palettes.
Not a native North Londoner and fancy a bite of Baba G’s? You can swing by Baba G’s in Pop Brixton or at the Vinegar Yard in London Bridge. Wherever, you get your flavour-filled fix, Alec and Liz’s vibrant menu is a winning choice and one which is certain to become a family-favourite for years to come.
