Mama to Daisy and snapper of brunch dishes across the capital, Poppy Woodcock is founder of tantalising tales of The Munch Brunch Kids. From North to South, Poppy is a brunch fanatic and through her lip-smackingly gorgeous grid she takes fellow foodies on a delicious journey of the best breakfasts London has to offer.
With baby Daisy in tow, she has captured a wealth of inspiration and is always our first-stop when we’re in search for a breaky with a twist or just something truly indulgent. If all that talk of turkey has just got too much, sit back and tuck into Poppy’s Table Talk…
1. I’d like a table for…
Me, my husband Marc, our daughter Daisy and dog Jackson.
2. Early-birds catch the coffee at…
The Dayrooms near Portobello Road or Milk Beach in Queens Park. Two of our favourite places for a flat white!
3. Best brunch with kids?
So many places we’ve visited have been amazingly accommodating when it comes to kids… such as Friends of Ours, Caravan, The Bach and The Good Egg. But the real stand out was Chamomile Cafe whose lovely owner Irit spent hours amusing Daisy whilst we worked our way through their brilliant brunch menu!
4. Children’s menu must-visits…
We’re not quite at the children’s menu stage yet but loved our recent visit to Cuckoo Hibbou which caters perfectly for kids and coffee loving mums.
5. Where do you grab a bite with mums en masse?
We love all the new casual dining spots popping up around London – they tend to have lots of space for little ones and endless options for adults! Market Halls in Fulham and Pergola Olympia are two of our favourites.
6. Hidden gem for treating tiny ones?
Cutter and Squidge is our go to for coffee and cake and will be our first port of call when Daisy’s old enough to indulge!
7. Best piece of advice for dining out with kids?
Relax and enjoy – there’s nothing better than going out to eat as a family!
8. Date night – takeaway or take me out?
Take me out… ideally for brunch! For somewhere special it would have to be Duck and Waffle.
9. My earliest food memory…
My Mum’s roast chicken, Dad’s scrambled eggs and Auntie Sue’s triple chocolate cake!
10. Five mums, one table – who’s joining you?
My amazing Mum, Emma and Daisy’s godmothers Katy, Maggi, Millie and Freya. And although she’s not yet a mum I’d have to have my sister and brilliant brunch partner Georgia there too!
