Table Talk with Cuckooz Nest Co-Founder Charlie Rosier

Cuckooz Nest
London duo Charlie Rosier and Fabienne O’Neill are the super-duo behind London’s first co-working space for parents – Cuckooz Nest. Mother-of-one Charlie and her best friend Fabienne struck upon the idea after Charlie struggled to find affordable and flexible childcare when returning to work.

A dream for flexi-freelancing mamas and papas, this collaborative space in the heart of Clerkenwell allows parents to book office and creche space on a Pay-As-You-Go basis with zero commitment from as little as one hour a day. Childcare, provided by Manny & Me, is educational, fun and only a hop, skip and jump for nearby working parents. Plus with more flexible hours and  fewer children than traditional nurseries, we really wish their was a Cuckooz Nest in every neighbourhood.

We took five with Charlie to muse over motherhood and chat must-try meals with toddlers across London in our latest Table Talk…

1. I’d like a table for…
Myself! Honestly I am either trying desperately to get a toddler to eat (by which time my food is cold) or eating on-the-move/at-my-desk.  I would love to enjoy a meal in peace, with no judgment.

2. Early-birds catch the coffee at…
Gail’s on Exmouth Market, which is just opposite Mrs H’s sing along group  – a really lovely and uplifting class and the parents usually pile into Gail’s for a post-singing coffee.

3. Best brunch with kids?
The Modern Pantry in Clerkenwell, especially if it’s sunny and you can get a table in the square, or Roka in Canary Wharf, which has a kid’s play area.

4. Children’s menu must-visits…
Tom’s Kitchen has a good kid’s menu and they can eat free when adults order the weekend brunch, at Wahaca children can build their own taco meals, and you can’t beat The Rainforest Cafe for its extensive menu and eccentric decor!

5. Where do you grab a bite with mums en masse?
Cuckooz Nest! It’s the perfect place to host a weekend brunch as we have a long table which seats 16, plus a gorgeous open-plan kitchen…the best bit is toys and a safe play space for children are included!  Just need to bring the prosecco and picnic.

6. Hidden gem for treating tiny ones?
The B Bakery Bus Tour – kids love this double decker bus tour, which takes you around the main sights of London whilst serving up a delicious high tea.

7. Best piece of advice for dining out with kids?
Take your own activity pack, including a colouring or sticker book that hasn’t been seen yet.  Plus don’t wait until they are starving (or have a snack handy whilst they wait).

8. Date night – takeaway or take me out?
Take me out.

9. My earliest food memory…
I honestly can’t remember.  However I do remember being treated to a McDonald’s Happy Meal on the last day of school term and it being such a treat!

10. Five mums, one table – who’s joining you?
My mum, Meryl Streep, Michelle Obama, Helena Morrissey and Jessica Ennis-Hill.
