Table Talk with GBBO Semi-Finalist Briony Williams

Briony Williams
If like us you’re Great British Bake Off fans, you will be familiar with incredible full-time mama Briony Williams and her crafty bakes which carried her all the way through to semi-finals of GBBO 2018.  The 33 year old Bristolian says that her nan is her inspiration when whipping up a storm in the kitchen and she entered the Bake Off to make her family proud…and that she did all the way to Patisserie Week. From vegan spiced pumpkin cake to a sinfully indulgent chocolate orange two-tiered number, follow Briony’s bakes @brionymaybakes on Instagram and Twitter.

Mum to daughter Nora, Briony joins us for a well deserved cuppa and an obligatory slice of something sweet as she chats about her favourite family-friendly restaurants in and around Bristol…

1. I’d like a table for…
Me, my husband and our 3 year old daughter Nora.

2. Early-birds catch the coffee at…
Bakesmiths in Clifton – a kicking cup of coffee and amazing pastries.

3. Best brunch with kids?
Grupo Lounge in Westbury on Trym, they are so friendly and it has a great kids menu plus colouring in!

4. Children’s menu must-visits…
The Gloucester Old Spot on Kellaway Avenue. My absolute favourite pub – it has amazing atmosphere, food is fab and they are so family-friendly.

5. Where do you grab a bite with mums en masse?
The Crafty Cow on Gloucester Road. Great food combined with a children’s play area.

6. Hidden gem for treating tiny ones?
Bit random but the Bradley Stoke Leisure Centre has an amazing soft play and a Soho Coffee Shop which does really nice coffee and food. Win, win for us and Nora!

7. Best piece of advice for dining out with kids?
Take pencils and paper aplenty for hours of colouring in.

8. Date night – takeaway or take me out?
Take me out to Bravas on Cotham Hill,  simply the best tapas ever.

9. My earliest food memory…
Is my Nan making us banana sandwiches and making fairy cakes with my mum.

10. Five mums, one table – who’s joining you?
My mum and my three oldest friends: Charlotte Fuge, Holly Lane and Aimee Coley – a guaranteed table filled with laughter.
