10 Vegan Restaurants for Families in London

Purezza
After all the candy munching and sweetie snaffling of Halloween, November brings a dose of virtuous goodness as we welcome Vegan Month. From pizza pies and warming curries to failsafe favourites of nuggets, chips and peas, opting for vegan dishes no longer needs to be dull. Make dining out with the kids fuss-free and tuck into ten of the best family-friendly vegan restaurants in London…

Purezza
May we introduce the UK’s first vegan pizzeria and winners of VegfestUK’s Best Restaurant award – Purezza. Founded in Brighton in 2015 and now nestled in the heart of Camden, their pizzas are not only topped with fresh artisan mozzarella delicately crafted from a fermentation of organic Italian brown rice milk but sourdough bases can be swapped for hemp flour or gluten-free options. The Cheesus is a true twist on the Quattro Formaggio and Pesto Manifesto a colourful homage to Italian ingredients. Calzone, lasagne and pesto spaghetti have all been given a pretty impressive plant-based makeover. Parents, need a good excuse to grab good pizza? Here’s one! Children under 10 get a free mini pizza when you order dishes from the main menu. With a huge range of delicious pizzas to choose from, with less fat and more nutritious ingredients than regular pizza.

Mildred’s
Pre-babe we could often be found braving the queue for a post-work bite at their Soho eatery. Now with toddler firmly by our side, our love for one of the capital’s oldest vegetarian/vegan restaurants hasn’t waned. Swapping Soho for the child-friendly outpost in Camden Town, whether central or north, the seasonal menu is still winning. Hearty vegetarian dishes see wood roasted mushroom and ale pie sit alongside stir fried vegetables, green falafel and a kicking sri lankan curry. Order a set of the small plates for dinky diners – gyoza dumplings will be gone in a flash as will the smashed avocado and corn chips, a scrummy noshy bite big and little kids will love.

Tell Your Friends
The sisters Watson, Lucy and Tiffany, may have broken a few hearts and given side-eye a plenty in Channel 4’s Made in Chelsea, but these days the sibling duo you’re more likely to find the girls in the kitchen than throwing shade at the bar. Their virtuous vegan venture Tell Your Friends is nestled in the heart of the New King’s Road and serves up an array of ethnically sourced, fresh plant based dishes. Lucy and Tiffany have crafted a menu which brings together flavours from across the world, be it great British comfort dishes such as their popular Fish & Chips, a breaded aubergine fillet, chips and peas, to a taste of Italy – plump arancini filled with cashew cream cheese, sun blush tomato dressed with spinach and kale pesto. Brunch sees baked sweet potato toast topped with almond butter, banana, blueberries and maple syrup and a super chia pudding with mama and lucuma infused almond milk, berry compote and smattered with granola.
