In this month’s Table Talk, Zoe and Georgia reveal where they take their tots for sushi and the best family-friendly afternoon teas in London to enjoy with your tribe….
1. We’d like a table for…
The whole afternoon, the two of us, our husbands, a few good bottles of wine and a yummy lunch which goes on and on!
2. Early-birds catch the coffee at…
The Deli Boutique on St Johns Hill. This gorgeous little french deli has the most delicious coffee, amazing if you’ve been up all night with your little one. They also do the best cheese and ham croissants and yummy pastries, all freshly baked on site.
3. Best brunch with kids?
If we’re talking the bottomless kind, Roka in Canary Wharf do a great one on a Sunday. They even have a little play area for kids so adults can enjoy all the gorgeous food and bubbles.
4. Children’s menu must-visits…
If your kids like Sushi, Sticks ‘n’ Sushi do a fab bento box for children with a little chocolate fish as a treat. Out of London we really love the Green Owl cafe in Buckhurst Hill.
5. Where do you grab a bite with mums en masse?
Maggie and Rose in Chiswick. The perfect place to let the kids go wild whilst you grab a glass of bubbles or a green juice. There is a huge play area to keep them entertained for hours and the food menu for us adults is really fantastic. Plus you don’t have to drink out of anything plastic, bonus!
6. Hidden gem for treating tiny ones?
There are so many great kids afternoon teas popping up. The Langham do a great one in partnership with Hamleys, or we also love One Aldwych for their incredible Charlie and the Chocolate Factory inspired afternoon tea.
7. Best piece of advice for dining out with kids?
Take an i-pad out with you stocked with your kids favourite TV Shows so you can actually enjoy a conversation…also pack a bag with crayons, stickers and paper…never assume where you’re eating out has any of these things.
8. Date night – takeaway or take me out?
Well currently as I’m just about to have my second baby and I can’t keep my eyes open past 8pm, its a takeaway (Zoe)! Georgia likes getting glammed up and hitting the town with her hubby…it’s just the hangover with a toddler that kills it the next day!
9. My earliest food memory…
Zoe: Mines awful – fish fingers, chips and beans cooked by my dad. Georgia: I was lucky to grow up in Portugal and kids menus really weren’t a thing, I remember eating a lot of olives and bread with sardine paste!
10. Five mums, one table – who’s joining you?
Angela Scanlon, Alex Jones, Nadia Sawalha, Claudia Winkleman and Dawn French.
