When Marcus Wareing is at the helm and chef patron Chantelle Nicholson is leading the kitchen, it’s easy to see why contemporary British restaurant Tredwells was awarded the accolade of London Restaurant of the Year. Set in the heart of Covent Garden, Tredwells is the stress-free spot to enjoy a meal with the kids either pre-theatre or post-amble through the nearby famous market and museums this summer.
Understanding the complexities of eating out with tots, Chef Chantelle has crafted two amazing menus for children to explore when dining at Tredwells. From the familiar favourites of the Junior Menu to a gastronomic journey through the seven pint-sized plates of the Culinary Kids Menu, there really is oodles of choice and scrumptious child-friendly bites. Oh, and did we mention if the kids take a trip to the kitchen they can whip up their very own soft-serve ice cream piled high with their favourite toppings?
The Junior Menu – from rich Magnificent meatballs in lashings of tomato sauce to a silky omelette, both served with a veggie pot stacked with sweet potato, perky peas and brave broccoli. Puds include salted caramel soft serve (swoon!) and juicy pineapple chunks atop a light-as-a-feather coconut mousse.
If your little ones are braver with their mealtime choices, the Culinary Kids Menu is a must-try. 7 small courses including a crisp croquette, BBQ pork chop, chargrilled broccoli with almonds, Cornish potatoes and aioli and a very special pear, apple and rhubarb kids cocktail – chin chin! Littleun’s get to keep their very own illustrated recipe card so budding chefs can recreate these wonders of Tredwells at home.
